THE LUMILOR STORY

FROM CHALLENGE TO
TO INDUSTRY CHANGER
The backstory on how LumiLor came to be.
The mastermind behind LumiLor was Andy Zsinko, an accomplished aftermarket painter with a reverence for science and chemistry.
In 2009, Andy had just completed a glow-in-the-dark paint job for a friend's motorcycle, but was unhappy with the short window of illumination it provided. Convinced there had to be a better way, he began researching ways to make paint light up.
In 2010, Andy had a working prototype formulation which he first used to paint a '76 Kawasaki police motorcycle with graphics from Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album cover. Once complete, he called some friends to meet him at a local parking lot for the big reveal. When they witnessed the iconic rainbow and prism flicker to life, all jaws hit the floor... and Darkside Scientific was born.
Andy called in friend (and chemical engineering MIT graduate) Shawn Mastrian to help assemble a team that would continue to develop his discovery into what it is today - LumiLor, the world's first electroluminescent paint.
Sadly, Andy passed in the spring of 2015 but his legacy lives on! Darkside Scientific continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with electroluminescent technology. As the technology continues to evolve, so do the methods of application. LumiLor is now available as a paint, vinyl, and screen print. The future of Darkside is bright as they continue to grow the LumiLor brand around the globe and redefine the entire lighting industry.
